Updates and the Status Bars

The SystemFreaks Update Checker checks for new versions of your extensions and shows the state of your license in the staff area.

Check Now

Click Check Now on Tools > SystemFreaks Update Checker to refresh the license state and the list of versions. The page shows Last verified and Last update check. The plugin also refreshes once a day by cron and on each staff login.

The amber bar

An amber bar at the top of every staff page shows when updates are available. Open Tools > SystemFreaks Update Checker and click Update next to each extension.

The red bar

A red bar shows when the license key is missing or not valid. Open Settings > Company > Plugins > Installed > Manage next to SystemFreaks Update Checker, check the key and click Save. While the bar is red, the pages of the SystemFreaks extensions are not available.

Update an extension

  1. Click Update next to the extension.
  2. Wait for the page to reload. History shows Done.

The plugin moves the old folder to <uploads>/<company>/update_checker/<extension>.bak, puts the new files in place and runs the upgrade of the extension. When the upgrade fails, the plugin puts the old files back and History shows Failed with the reason.

Update the Update Checker

The plugin updates itself in two steps. Click Update next to SystemFreaks Update Checker. The plugin swaps its files and reloads the page. The next page load runs the plugin upgrade. When the page shows an Upgrade button under Settings > Company > Plugins > Installed, click it.

Update by hand

You can also upload new files by FTP over the folder of an extension, then click Upgrade under Settings > Company > Plugins, Modules or Payment Gateways. Click Check Now afterwards so the Update Checker reads the new version.
